Victorian Recycling Infrastructure Plan
Recycling Victoria is developing the Victorian Recycling Infrastructure Plan (VRIP), to be released in 2024. It will provide long-term strategic infrastructure planning to guide and inform decision-making in relation to waste, recycling and resource recovery infrastructure over the next 30 years. The VRIP replaces Victoria’s 7 regional waste and resource recovery implementation plans, and the Statewide Waste and Resource Recovery Infrastructure Plan (SWRRIP).
Regional waste and resource recovery implementation plans
Until the release of the VRIP, the SWRRIP and regional waste and resource recovery implementation plans continue to guide decision making and planning for waste, recycling and resource recovery infrastructure.
The implementation plans integrate priorities set out in the SWRRIP with the needs of local and regional communities. The implementation plans provide an understanding of each region’s:
- waste infrastructure, including landfills
- environmental and financial performance
- projected waste volumes
- urban growth
- industry demands.
Each implementation plan contains an infrastructure schedule. The schedules list operational waste and resource recovery infrastructure, including landfills, and indicate potential future needs.
