New services for more and better recycling

Recycling Victoria will work closely with Councils and Alpine Resort Management Boards (ARMBs), providing support, monitoring and compliance to achieve improved services, resource recovery and recycling and data reporting.

Recycling Victoria will also support councils and ARMBs with strategic procurement of waste and recycling contracts.

Councils and ARMBs are key to the successful transition to Victoria’s four-stream household waste and recycling service and to enabling an accessible container deposit scheme.

Strategic procurement

Several councils and ARMBs are already working together to procure waste and recycling services for collection, transport and processing/ disposal of –commingled recycling, glass, food organics and garden organics, and general waste.

  • Resource Recovery Collective - Hume

Ten councils and two ARMBs in the Hume region are partnering with a collaborative Request for Tender, for waste and recycling services. Tender information is available at Resource Recovery Collective HumeExternal Link .

  • Gippswide Kerbside - Gippsland

Six Gippsland councils - Bass Coast, Baw Baw, East Gippsland, Latrobe City, South Gippsland, and Wellington - issued four competitive tenders to revamp the collection, transport, processing and recycling of kerbside waste. These tenders are now closed.

These projects will enable the region's waste management and resource recovery sector to transition toward a low carbon, circular economy and be best placed to leverage market efficiencies, and economic development opportunities for positive environmental outcomes.
