Renew your tobacco licence
Tobacco licences are valid for a financial year. You must apply to renew your licence by 30 June each year.
If we do not make a decision about your renewal application before your licence expires, your licence remains valid until the decision has been made.
The first licensing period will be extended
Licences issued during the 2025-26 financial year will be valid until 30 June 2027.
You must submit your licence renewal before 30 June 2027.
More information about the renewal process will be provided before this date.

Change your tobacco licence
If you need to make any of the changes below, you must:
- complete and sign the relevant form.
- email the form to us at contacttobacco@justice.vic.gov.au
- pay the fee. We will will contact you to arrange payment.
Keep your information up to date
If any of the following information changes since your licence was granted or renewed, you must tell us within 14 days of the change.
Providing false or misleading information is an offence, with a penalty of $12,210.60 for a person or $61,053 for businesses.
Licensee details
Including changes to:
- name, address, contact details
- Australian Business Number and/or Australian Company Number
- criminal history. For example, if you have been charged with or found guilty of an offence
- suspension, cancellation, refusal or disqualification relating to a tobacco licence held in another Australian state or territory
- details related to any other tobacco business(es) the licensees own or run in Australia, including new businesses
- financial history. For example, insolvency or bankruptcy.
Key business personnel
Including changes to:
- a director, partner or executive member
- names, addresses or contact details
- criminal history of key business personnel
- suspension, cancellation, refusal or disqualification relating to a tobacco licence held by key business personnel in another Australian state or territory
- details relating to any other tobacco business owned or run by key business personnel in Australia, including new businesses
- financial history of key business personnel. For example, insolvency or bankruptcy
- change or acquisition of a director ID by key business personnel.
Premises details
Including changes to:
- name and contact details a person who can be contacted in relation to the premises
- shop or business names
- any liquor licence associated with the premise, including obtaining a liquor licence or having a liquor licence cancelled or suspended
- methods of sale.
Associate details
Including:
- previously declared associates (including relatives) that are no longer an associate
- new associates (including relatives) to declare
- changes to address or contact details for any declared associates or relatives.
Updated documents
Providing any updated documents included as part of an application such as:
- Identity verification documents
- National police check
- ASIC extract
- Certificate of incorporation
- Trust deed.
Fees on this page are for the 2025–26 financial year. Fee units are updated each year by the Department of Treasury and Finance.
Updated
