Public school teachers are supported by their peers, their leaders and the government to deliver great outcomes for their students. They apply the latest research and global best-practice to achieve excellence in our schools.
As a teacher you can inspire your students and help each Victorian child become a better version of themselves.
Qualify to be a teacher
Before you start studying, you’ll need to decide what type of teacher you want to be. You can choose from early childhood, primary, secondary or special education.
The next step is to study the right course. This will depend on what you’re doing now and what skills and experience you already have. There are pathways for people at any stage of their career to qualify as a teacher.
Get a teaching job
Before applying for your first teaching job you must apply to register as a teacher with the Victorian Institute of Teaching. This means you’re qualified, suitable to teach and can maintain professional practice.
Once you have completed your registration you can search and apply for jobs on our schools recruitment website.
