Our annual Victorian Skills Plans focuses on enabling economic participation. We engage with various industry sectors to advise them on participation opportunities and skills insights, assist with the co-design of their initiatives, and provide support during implementation phase, with a view to potentially scaling up these projects to other sectors and regions post project pilot.

Recently, we attended a workshop hosted by Primary Care Connect and funded by Gardiner Foundation and Agriculture Victoria, who in 2024 launched a joint 3-year project to boost participation of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) workers in the state’s agricultural sector. These workers make up around 11% of Victoria’s agricultural workforce and help fill skills gaps and strengthens the industry. The project aims to help people from diverse backgrounds enter and stay in agricultural careers by reducing barriers, building cultural awareness across the industry, and creating engagement models that can be replicated in other regions.

We are helping to guide this important project through providing insights from Victoria’s skills system and industries, and by supporting local skills projects that reduce barriers for people to access training and future careers. Find out more about our engagement activities and industry advice.
