Satisfaction surveys

Raising the quality of Victorian vocational education and training.

The Victorian Skills Authority (VSA) leads a survey program to monitor the performance and outcomes of vocational education and training (VET) in Victoria.

The VSA collects information from Victorian students, and employers of apprentices and trainees, through the annual Student Satisfaction Survey and Employer Satisfaction Survey.

Data collected from the surveys is used to inform improvements in VET that benefit students, employers and the wider community. The results are also reported back to individual training providers.

The surveys were initiated by the Department of Education in 2014. They have been managed by the VSA since July 2021.

Find out more about the surveys below.

Performance measures

The annual surveys help the VSA develop performance measures for the Victorian training system. They provide an evidence base for policy development and are a key input into VSA’s products and processes.

The VSA uses the performance measures to:

  • improve quality and outcomes in the Victorian training system through funding, regulation, and innovation
  • improve the connection between skills, future jobs and economic growth
  • respond to changes in demands for workforce skills.

Training providers use the performance measures to:

  • better understand how they are performing
  • implement strategies and processes to improve the quality of training and meet the needs of students and employers.
