Education and training services

If you love sharing knowledge and fostering growth in others, then education and training could be the field for you. In this industry, you can support students to flourish throughout their lives and careers.

From preschool to post secondary education, education and training services is a growing industry. It’s forecast that 46,371 new workers will be needed in the industry in Victoria by 2026.*

Education aides, primary and secondary school teachers, and TAFE teachers are all in high demand. You can become an education aide directly through a Vocational Education and Training (VET) course, or you can become a TAFE teacher by combining your industry experience alongside a VET training qualification. If you want to be a school teacher, a VET course can put you on a pathway to go on to a teaching degree.

Changes to Victoria’s childhood education system have also driven demand for early childhood workers. Visit our working with children and young people profile for more information on training and careers in early childhood, out of school care and youth work.

You can also work with accredited or non-accredited providers, or as a private tutor teaching subjects like sport or art.

Education and training services is a highly regulated industry. Usually, you need some qualifications before starting work. This may be through a VET course, or higher education.
