Secretary, Victorian Trades Hall Council
Luke leads the Victorian Trades Hall Council (VTHC), the peak body for unions in Victoria, a role he has held for nearly 10 years. Luke leads a team that advocates for Victorian workers, and has dedicated resources for training and support, including for women and young workers. Under his leadership, VTHC has worked with both federal and state governments to progress reform that has led to increased wages and improved conditions for Victorian workers, furthered gender pay equity, strengthened occupational health and safety laws, and introduced measures to combat workplace discrimination.
Prior to this, Luke was a union organiser at the Liquor Hospitality and Miscellaneous Workers Union (now the United Workers Union), where he worked alongside school cleaners, security guards, early childhood educators and hospitality workers to improve their wages and conditions.
Luke is passionate about ensuring access to training and skills development is fair and equitable for all working Victorians and is delivered to a high standard. He represents Victorian workers on several boards and has extensive experience in workplace consultation, government relations, policy development, advocacy, stakeholder engagement and industrial relations.
