To make a complaint in relation to Child Link, please first decide which of the categories listed below best describes the nature of your complaint and then follow the corresponding guidance.
Privacy complaints
Privacy concerns in relation to the handling or sharing of personal information on Child Link should be directed to the relevant school, service provider or government agency in the first instance.
For Victorian Government schools, privacy concerns are handled by the Department of Education’s Privacy Team. Refer to Make a privacy complaint to the Department of Education for further information.
Information handling and sharing complaints
Schools, service providers and government agencies are required to have an effective complaint handling procedure in place. Complaints about how employees handle and share information on Child Link should be directed to the relevant school, service provider or government agency in the first instance.
General complaints
These are complaints that are not related to privacy, or information handling and sharing.
General complaints may cover concerns relating to:
- how information from government agencies is collected for Child Link
- how information is displayed on Child Link
- the administration of Child Link under relevant laws, or
- the authorising and onboarding process for Child Link Users, including training.
You may submit a general complaint relating to Child Link using the Child Link Complaints Request Form (below).

Note: You must ensure this form and all copies of this form are stored in a secure location that can only be accessed by you and other people relevant to the complaint.
