The Department of Education has appointed a panel of 8 recruitment agencies (the Panel) that specialise in early childhood recruitment. The aim is to attract qualified early childhood teachers and educators to eligible and participating services across Victoria, specifically those delivering Three-Year-Old Kindergarten or Pre-Prep in 2025.

These agencies provide expert support to the sector to help services and providers find Early Childhood professionals seeking a new or career change to find work in Victoria.

Data Collection Statement
This Data Collection Statement outlines how personal information will be handled as part of attraction activities for the Best Start, Best Life reforms.

The Victorian Department of Education (DE) is seeking expressions of interest from recent graduates, interested in taking up early childhood teaching positions in Victorian services.

Data collected

Submissions will require a minimum of an email address alongside other identifying information such as first name, last name, mobile phone number (optional), country and state of residence. If you are currently residing in Australia, you will also be asked whether you live in a metropolitan or rural/regional area, your postcode, whether you will be keen to move, whether you are participating in the Victorian Skilled Migration Visa Nomination Program and preferred hours of work.

All information collected will be handled in accordance with the Privacy Data and Protection Act 2014 (Vic) (the PDP Act), the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic) (the HR Act) and the Public Records Act 1973 (Vic). 

Purpose and use of data collected

The primary purpose for collecting this information is to facilitate the attraction activities for the Best Start, Best Life reforms, and to contact interested parties in relation to employment opportunities as the project progresses.

Personal Information will be retained by the department for as long as the purpose is fulfilled as outlined in the form. After this time, any personal information will destroy in accordance with Department’s data retention policy.

Information collected will only be disclosed to staff within DE assisting with the project or providing the collected data to recruitment agencies. The information collected may also be disclosed to Department staff who need to know in accordance with the Department's privacy policy and also disclosed where otherwise permitted by law.

Publicly shared information will be strictly de-identified, ensuring individuals cannot be re-identified, in compliance with PDP Act 2014

Means of collection and storage of data

The information will be collected on the online platform and transferred to a restricted location on the Department's servers. Only those with a need to access the information for the purposes of the project or related reporting will have permission to access the information. Your information will be stored on servers located in Australia and on secure Department servers and will only be used for the purposes described above.

Collected information will be sent in a secure manner to recruitment agencies. These agencies are subject to the same obligations as the department under Victorian privacy law to store and protect your information securely.
