Learn Local Learning for Work

The Learn Local Learning for Work activities help learners continue to think about what was learnt in class. Activities will help them see how they can use their skills in a work setting.

Learn Local Learning for Work will help learners enrolled in a pre-accredited program to practise what they have learnt in a work setting. This will help prepare them for the world of work or future training.

Learning for work activities can take place at a Learn Local or at a workplace with a Learn Local trainer.

Learn Local learning for work activities will help learners to:

  • practise and develop their core foundation skills, tailored to an industry or workplace
  • learn about local growth industries and pathways
  • understand about the range of job opportunities and realise their personal career goals
  • understand better what they think work and workplaces are like
  • prepare for a job by knowing what an employer wants and to better understand the workplace
  • understand their own goals and interests in work
  • prepare for a future placement in an accredited course.

The Learn Local learning for work guidelines will help providers to:

  • develop safe activities for learners about the workplace
  • better support pathways to accredited training and a job
  • help learners see real local job opportunities and different career choices
  • provide learners with an understanding of skills needed for different jobs
  • provide learners with safe and real experiences of work at the Learn Local or at a workplace
  • help learners understand different employability skills needed at work
  • help learners to better understand what they are studying at the Learn Local.

The guidelines and other documents are on the Learn Local Secure Portal for Learn Locals to download and use.
