Subject: Information for Learn Local providers - changes to Victorian Child Safe Standards from 1 July 2022

All organisations currently required to comply with the Victorian Child Safe Standards must implement procedures to comply with the new standards by 1 July 2022.

Stronger Standards, safer children
Victoria’s Child Safe Standards (the Standards) are a mandatory framework to protect children and young people from harm and abuse.
The Standards commenced in Victoria in January 2016. After 5 years, we have seen how the Standards improve safety for children and young people.
Changes are being made to make our Standards even stronger. Organisations covered by the current Standards will need to comply with updated Standards from 1 July 2022. Until then, the current Standards apply.[1]
Who is affected?
All organisations who provide services for children are required to comply with the standards. Children are defined as young people under the age of 18 years. Depending on the services provided your organisation may be required to participate in the Reportable Conduct Scheme.
