Climate change is already affecting where and how Victorians learn and work. We have more very hot days and less rain. The bushfire season is longer than it used to be. When the big rains come, they are more intense and may cause flash flooding.
Education and training also play important roles in helping people understand climate change, develop new ideas, and build skills to adapt.
The Climate Action Act 2017 sets Victoria's target of reaching net-zero emissions by 2045. It also requires the Victorian Government to develop Adaptation Action Plans for key systems every five years.
Education and Training Adaptation Action Plan 2022–26
The Education and Training Adaptation Action Plan 2022-26 identifies the climate-related risks and opportunities facing the sector and sets out actions to strengthen its resilience and ability to adapt.
Victoria’s next Adaptation Action Plans 2027–31
Work is underway on the next Adaptation Action Plans 2027–31.
Public consultation on the draft plans was completed in July 2026. A copy of the draft Education and Training Adaptation Action Plan 2027-31 is available on the Engage Victoria website.
We are now considering the feedback provided through the consultation process. The final Education and Training Adaptation Action Plan is expected to be released in 2027.
