About the Independent Review
The Independent Review into administrative and compliance activities in Victorian government schools (the review) was commissioned by the Hon. Ben Carroll MP, Minister for Education in May 2024.
The review was commissioned to examine the underlying drivers of administrative and compliance activities in Victorian government schools and to provide advice on options to reduce and better manage this work.
The review process
The review was undertaken by independent education policy expert Katie Roberts-Hull. Ms Roberts-Hull undertook an extensive consultation process to inform the review. This involved regular meetings with a wide range of representative bodies; visits to schools across Victoria; consultation sessions with a range of school leaders and teachers; and the opportunity for schools and school staff to make written submissions to the review.
The review report
Ms Roberts-Hull has now submitted the final report from the review. The report has 7 key findings and makes 28 recommendations to reduce the administrative and compliance burden on Victorian government schools.
