Located at Victoria University, Sunshine campus, the Tech School connects local students to their futures by providing free access to innovative, hands-on STEM learning for all secondary students in the Brimbank local government area.
The Tech School has been shaped through extensive consultation with students, industry, community and Victoria University's Moondani Balluk Indigenous Academic Unit. Its design embeds Seven Layers of Country and features floor patterns representing the journey of the Maribyrnong River beneath the site.
Students can take part in programs that encourage them to tackle contemporary challenges, such as operating a mock cybersecurity centre, balancing smart energy grids, designing and racing vehicles or drones and addressing community concerns such as noise, privacy and impacts on local wildlife. Students also use industry-standard software, helping them to build skills relevant to the digital technology sector.
