Mental health training and support

There are a range of wellbeing initiatives to support school communities to identify and intervene early with children and young people mental health needs. Orygen Youth mental health early intervention guide

We've partnered with Orygen to develop a guide with early warning signs, actions and supports: Youth mental health early intervention guide (DOCX, 186KB).

headspace free counselling

Secondary students in Victorian Government schools can access to free face-to-face and phone counselling services with headspace counselling for secondary students.

Screeners and tools

  • Teachers can use the student check-in screening tool to identify students who may be at risk of social, emotional, and academic behaviours which interfere with their learning.

Mental Health support during school holidays

Mental health support, resources and advice are available for students and families to access over the school holidays. Two fact sheets for students and families:

  • support positive mental health and wellbeing of students
  • identify signs students may need mental health support
  • access available support.
