2026 Education Week

About Education Week

Education Week is an annual celebration of public education in Victoria.

In 2026, Victoria celebrates Education Week from Monday 18 May to Friday 22 May.

The theme of 2026 Education Week is Showcase your school, encouraging school communities to celebrate what’s great about their school.

Every Victorian school is great in its own unique way, whether it’s the people, the place, the learning opportunities or the school community.

Ideas for showcasing your school

School celebrations

  • Hold an open day for your community or throw open your classrooms and invite parents and carers to see what’s great about your school.
  • Encourage students to draw or write about the best part of their school and offer house points or school reward points for the best entries.
  • Dedicate time in your regular school assembly or host a special assembly during Education Week to celebrate what makes your school great.
  • Celebrate the people who make your school great by recognising your long-serving staff, as well as the community members and volunteers who support your school. Invite students and staff to send thank you messages to the people who make their school great.

Share your school’s story

  • Put together a special newsletter for your school community titles ‘It’s all here at our public school’ or ‘Showcasing our school’ celebrating what makes your schools great. It could be about the people, facilities, learning or even your school community. Share it with your community.
  • Reach out to local media about upcoming school events, performances or student achievements to see if it could make a good news story. If there is media interest, let the media team know by emailing media.unit@education.vic.gov.au Remember to ensure you have parental consent for students’ photos or names to appear in media.
  • Use the social media tiles and frames in the Education Week communications kit to post on your school’s social media channels about what makes your school great. Use #EdWeekVic to help share your story.
  • Use the posters and social media tiles at Your public school. It’s all here. to celebrate the great things happening at your school and to raise your school’s profile.
