The history of Homebush Common School

  • 1861

    Homebush opened as a common school under head teacher Isabella Reynard in 1861.

    The school was on the Avoca goldfields. Classes were held in a rented building.

  • 1875

    The school was closed and was replaced by Homebush State School (No. 1579).

    W.A. Appleton, who was the head teacher at No. 316, became head teacher at the new school.
