The history of Lancefield Primary School
1865
Lancefield opened in 1865 on Dunsford Street. The first head teacher was Ingram.
1870s
The school became a state school in 1873. In 1873 there were 199 students enrolled and the school building was overcrowded.
By 1875 a new brick school building was completed. It was located on the intersection of High Street and Park Street. The Minister of Public Instruction opened the new building in 1876. A new teacher's residence was added around the same time.
1953
A school bus service was established in 1953 to transport students from smaller nearby townships.
1970
The school was renamed Lancefield Primary School in 1970. The head teacher at the time was B. J. Joyce and there were 66 students enrolled.
2022
Lancefield Primary School is still in operation.
