Please lodge liquor licence applications at least 8 weeks in advance. The time taken to process an application will vary depending on various factors including the application's complexity and any objections that may be raised.

When applying to vary or transfer your licence, the proposed changes cannot come into effect until an application is approved by Liquor Control Victoria (LCV).

Significant penalties apply for trading while unlicensed or not in accordance with the licence conditions.

Transfer an existing liquor licence or permit

There is an application fee to transfer a liquor licence.

The proposed transferee cannot supply alcohol until the transfer has been granted and the proposed transferee has obtained the legal right to occupy the premises.

If the transfer is granted before the right to occupy is obtained, the proposed transferee can supply liquor from the date they obtain the legal right to occupy, but they must provide a notice of right to occupy to LCV within 24 hours of gaining the legal right to occupy. A penalty exceeding $900 may apply for not providing notice within 24 hours.
