The history of Briagolong Primary School
1871
Briagolong opened as a common school in 1871. It replaced Rural School No. 71, Briagolong. The first head teacher was William F. Parker, who previously taught at the rural school.
1873
The school became a state school in 1873.
Margaret Fitzgerald was the first teacher of the state school.
1915
A weatherboard classroom and sloyd room were added in 1915. Sloyd rooms were used for woodworking.
1921
100 students attended the school in 1921 and the sloyd room was used as a classroom.
1937
The school closed temporarily when a case of polio developed.
1966
The school's recorder band was successful at the Sale Eisteddfod in 1966.
1970
The school was renamed Briagolong Primary School in 1970.
2022
Briagolong Primary School is still in operation.
