The history of Yering Primary School
1870s
Yering was recognised as a common school when it got aid in 1870, although it opened in late 1869. The first head teacher was Henry Ellis.
The school became a state school at some stage between 1873 and 1878.
The old school building was beyond repair by 1876. A new school building was built in 1877.
1882
Enrolment ranged between 53 and 60 in 1882.
1927
A report in 1927 noted the pine trees in the grounds, which were ‘conspicuous from a distance and are a monument to those who planted them'.
1970
The school was renamed Yering Primary School in 1970. There were around 40 at the time.
2022
Yering Primary School is still in operation.
