The first head teacher was William Onslow and there were 40 students enrolled.

  • 1870s

The school became a state school at some stage between 1873 and 1878

  • 1910

Woods Point had been a 'boom' town with many mines.

The school was quite big but after 1910 the number of students began to fall as the mines began to close. Mining families moved away from the town.

  • 1939

A fire burnt down the school and a large part of the town. A new school was built.

There were around 200 students and three teachers at the school in 1939.

  • 1969

The mines continued to close and in 1969 there were only 12 students enrolled at the school.

  • 1970

The school was renamed Woods Point Primary School.

  • 1998

Woods Point Primary School closed in 1998 when it combined with Jamieson Primary School (No. 814).
