Victorian Government scheme
Over the past eight years, we’ve invested more than $30 million to make rail freight more cost effective and allow exporters to get their goods to port sooner.
The Victorian Government will provide $3.5 million to extend the scheme until 30 June 2023.
Under the scheme, four freight operators will receive incentives to move up to a combined 42,500 containers by rail, taking the equivalent of 28,000 truck trips every year off regional and urban roads and reducing truck congestion at the Port of Melbourne.
Current recipients are:
- Shepparton corridor – Linx Portlink (Tocumwal)
- Horsham corridor – Wimmera Container Line (Dooen)
- Warrnambool corridor – Westvic Container Export (Dennington)
- Mildura corridor – Seaway Intermodal (Merbein)
