Environmental sustainability in transport

Environmental sustainability is a key priority for us. We recognise that the transport network is a public space that contributes to healthy, sustainable, and liveable communities.

In addition to complying with around 40 state, federal and international environment, and heritage acts and treaties, we strive to be a leader in protecting cultural heritage values, human health, and the environment.

Environment Protection Act 2017

The Environment Protection Act 2017 is underpinned by the General Environmental Duty (GED)(opens in a new window) which requires anyone engaging in an activity that could pose risks to human health and the environment, to understand the risks and take reasonably practicable steps to eliminate or minimise them.
