The history of Baringhup Common School

  • 1859

    Baringhup was opened by the Church of England under the Denominational Board.

    The first head teacher was Arthur L Butler. The average attendance reached 22.

    The town, located on the Loddon River, was a goldfield at the time.

  • 1875

    The school closed in 1875. It was replaced by Baringhup State School (No. 1687).

    The head teacher of No. 66 became the head teacher at the new school.
