The history of Bealiba Primary School

  • 1865

    The school opened as a common school in 1865. It was known as Cockrane's School at the time. The head teacher was Isles. 

  • 1868

    A new bark slab building was built in 1868.

  • 1870s

    Mr and Mrs Eastwood ran the school in 1870.

    The school became a state school at some stage between 1873 and 1878. 

  • 1890

    Martin Hansen taught at the school in 1890. He later became Director of Education. 

  • 1914

    There were 114 students attending the school in 1914.

  • 1920

  • 1970

    The school was renamed Bealiba Primary School in 1970.

  • 2022
