The history of Bundalaguah Primary School
1870s
Bundalaguah opened as a common school in 1872. The land was donated by one of the local settlers. Bundalaguah is an Aboriginal word meaning ‘The meeting of the waters.' The first head teacher was Edgar Apps.
The school became a state school at some stage between 1873 and 1878.
1891
The school closed on 29 of June 1891 because of the low student numbers. The head teacher at the time was Alfred Watson.
1906
The school reopened in January 1906. The head teacher at the time was Richard Griffiths.
1970
The school became Bundalaguah Primary School. The principal at the time was Norman J Mallet.
1993
Bundalaguah (No. 1107) closed in 1993 when it combined with Myrtlebank Primary School (No. 2207).
The new school was named Bundalaguah Myrtlebank Primary School (No. 5392). Jim Downes was the first principal.
2001
The school changed its name back to Bundalaguah Primary School in 2001.
2022
Bundalaguah Primary School is still in operation. The principal in the year of the 150th anniversary of public education in Victoria is Sarah Whitwam.
