The history of Dwyer's Bridge State School

  • 1860

    Originally known as Bet Bet, the school opened as a national school in 1860.

    The first head teacher was George Cook, and the average enrolment was 14 (8 girls and 6 boys).

  • 1870s

    It became a state school in 1873.

  • 1875

    The school's name changed to Dwyer's Bridge.

  • 1877

    The school building was destroyed by a storm in November 1877 and did not reopen.

  • 1898

    The debris was sold and removed in 1898.
