The history of Gheringhap State School

  • 1858

    Gheringhap opened as a national school in 1858.

    The first head teacher was McLennan and the average attendance was 35 students. 

  • 1860s

    The school became a common school in the 1860s.

  • 1870s

    The school building was extended and repaired and built a teacher's house in the 1870s.

  • 1906

    The school closed due to declining enrolments in 1906.
