The history of Lake Bolac College

  • 1866

    The school opened as a common school in 1866. It was known as Parupa Common School when it opened. The first head teacher was Robert McKenzie. 

  • 1867

    A new bluestone school building and teacher's residence opened in 1867. Thomas Freeman became head teacher at this time and 37 students were enrolled.

  • 1870s

    The school became a state school at some stage between 1873 and 1878. 

  • 1926

    A new school building was opened by Frank Tate in 1926. The old school was sold and removed from the site. 

  • 1966

    A general purpose room was opened in 1966 to mark the 100th anniversary of the school. 

  • 1970

    The school was renamed Lake Bolac Primary School in 1970.

  • 2022

    Lake Bolac Primary School is still in operation.
