The history of Lilicur State School

  • 1868

    Lilicur opened as a common school in 1868.

    The first head teacher was Harry P Seymour and classes were taught in a rented building.

    The average attendance in the first year was 27 (14 girls and 13 boys).

  • 1878

    A wooden school building could provide accommodation to 50 students.

    There was also a teacher's house.

  • 1880s

    From 29 August 1884 to 23 June 1885, the school operated part-time with Kimberley State School (No. 1160).

  • 1893

    The school closed in 1893.
