The history of Muckleford South State School

  • 1870s

    Muckleford South opened as a common school in 1871. There were 28 students enrolled when the school opened.

    This school became a state school between 1873 and 1878.

    Extra classes were held at night starting in 1875. 

    The night school closed in 1877 after two years.


  • 1890

    There were around 100 students going to this school in 1890.

    The number of students began to fall after 1890.

  • 1927

    Muckleford South State School closed in 1927.
