The history of Cobden Primary School

  • 1866

    Cobden opened as a common school in 1866. The head teacher was John Braithwaite. The schoolhouse was made of timber.

  • 1870s

    The school became a state school at some stage between 1873 and 1878.

  • 1884

    A stone building was added to the timber schoolhouse.

  • 1970

    The school was renamed Cobden Primary School in 1970.

    The number of students enrolled was about 250.

  • 2022
